![]() Advancement As specified, teams qualifying for Area, Regional, and National Championships must advance or face suspensions. Awards Only approved ASA awards may be presented. Bench Area Teams must refrain from smoking or drinking alcoholic beverages in the bench area. Only the players, coaches, scorekeeper and batboy may be in the bench area. Field Practice Teams must warm-up or practice on adjacent fields, unless the tournament director grants permission for game field use. Forfeit Time Is always fifteen (15) minutes, for the first game for each team in the tournament, after the scheduled starting time. Ground Rules Managers and umpires must review the ground rules before each contest. Home Team Decided by a coin flip by the umpires or tournament director. Mercy Rule All games must go seven (7) innings, but the run ahead rule (mercy rule) must terminate a game after 4 ˝ or 5 innings. (Fast Pitch – 8, Modified Pitch 10, Slow Pitch – 12). Playing Rules The current year ASA Playing Rules are in effect. Protests Will be settled “on the spot” by the tournament director or designee and will be final. If the tournament director or designee is not present, the decision of the umpires is final. Rain Delay In case of a game delay due to rain, teams should not leave the game site until the tournament director makes an official announcement. Report Time Teams are requested to report ˝ hour before game time. Scoring The “home book” will be the official score book, unless a tournament-designated scorer is present. Softballs Only ASA-approved softballs of the same brand and core may be used. Starting Time Will be listed with the brackets prior to the tournament. The tournament director reserves the right to change any game time at his/her discretion. Type With the exception of Junior Olympic Class B Tournaments, all others will be double elimination. Uniforms All teams must wear matching jerseys. Ball caps, visors, and headbands are optional for players.
